You could choose another crop like soybean but these take longer to harvest so sowing strawberries is the fastest and best way to get fast results in Farmville.
Plow a couple of fields and then sow your crops. Plow a couple more and sow a couple more fields until you run out of money. When the fields are ready to harvest you should get your crops in and you will have made some money to help you plow and sow more crops that before and so it goes on. In no time you will have a whole farm of crops growing and earning you money and you can then get some more neighbors and start to expand your farm by going to the marketplace and selecting Farm Aides and then choosing Expand Farm.
You need eight neighbors and 25000 cash to make the first expansion so get on growing crops and adding neighbors to reach this first main target in Farmville.
